Does Pensero replace our CPA or tax advisor?

No. Pensero is not a tax engine and does not provide tax advice. It produces structured, traceable engineering cost attribution based on real delivery artifacts. Your CPA or tax advisor applies judgment on top of defensible underlying data.

Does this support both GAAP capitalization and Section 174 / 174A?

Yes. Pensero supports structured cost attribution that can be used for: ASC 350-40 (book capitalization) Section 174 / 174A (U.S. tax R&E treatment) They are separate regimes, but both require defensible allocation and documentation.

How does Pensero handle domestic vs foreign engineering costs?

Pensero incorporates team structure, payroll entity, and geography into cost attribution. This enables domestic vs foreign R&E splits, critical under the 174 (2022–2024 amortization) and 174A (2025+ expensing) framework.

How complex is implementation?

If your engineering data already exists in GitHub, Jira, or similar systems, your onboarding will be set within minutes. There are no timesheets to deploy and no behavior change required from engineers. Finance receives structured reporting without operational disruption.
